Connect to Claude

Seven steps, about one minute of work. One subscription applies across all environments at once: Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and Hermes.

The connector is added in Claude’s settings as a custom MCP server: two form fields and sign-in via Telegram or with a password. The required interface element is marked in each screenshot.

Database access. Introductory free requests in the web chat and Telegram bot do not apply to the connector. Before connecting for the first time, enable in your account a three-day free trial or subscribe to the required database.
Which address to connect. All databases are available at one address: higher courts, the IP Court, the Judicial Chamber for Administrative Cases, the Judicial Chamber for Criminal Cases and ten commercial cassation districts. Exactly the databases you have paid for are opened; the appropriate neural network selects itself based on the subject of the question.
What is requiredAddress (URL)
All paid databases, including the districtshttps://mcp.casus.legal/one/mcp
Former district address /okrug/mcp continues to work; you do not need to reconnect it. If both addresses are connected, disable /okrug/mcp: otherwise the neural network will see the district tools twice.
⚠️ The connector name must use Latin characters only. Enter the name using Latin letters: CasusLegal, CasusLegal SIP, CasusLegal KAS, CasusLegal KUD. Internal tool identifiers cannot be generated from a Cyrillic name: the connector will connect and be visible in the settings, but in the chat the AI will say that it cannot see its tools. If you have already named it in Russian, disconnect the connector and connect it again using a Latin name.
1
Open Customize

Sign in to Claude: website claude.ai or desktop application. In the left panel, click Customize (“Customize”) under Scheduled. The settings window will open.

Claude’s left panel. Customize is highlighted in yellow. The procedure is the same in a browser and in the desktop application.

2
Go to Connectors and click Add

In the left settings column, under Customize, select Connectors (“Connectors”). Then click the button Add in the upper-right corner and select Add custom connector.

The Slack, Microsoft 365, and Atlassian cards with a Connect button are Anthropic’s ready-made integrations. CasusLegal connects as a custom server, so you need the Add button specifically.

The Connectors section in Settings. The Add button is outlined in yellow. The list below shows connectors that are already connected and marked Custom.

3
Fill in the two fields and click Add

In the form Add custom connector only the two upper fields are filled in.

Name — using Latin characters only: CasusLegal. The names of the other databases are listed in the table below.

Address — https://mcp.casus.legal/one/mcp

This is a single address: it opens all the databases you have paid for, and automatically selects the appropriate AI model based on the subject of the question. You no longer need to choose the database URL or worry about entering the wrong one.

If you need a connector for a a single database, there are separate URLs as well: “Higher Courts” — https://mcp.casus.legal/mcp, the IP Court — https://sip.casus.legal/mcp, KAS — https://kas.casus.legal/mcp, KUD — https://kud.casus.legal/mcp. In that case, enter the URL of the database you actually paid for: connecting with someone else’s URL will work, but the connector will respond “subscription inactive or expired.” You do not need to keep the unified URL and separate URLs simultaneously: the AI model will see two identical sets of tools and search twice.

Section Advanced settings leave it blank: the OAuth Client ID and Client Secret fields are intended for the client’s technical parameters, not for your login. Click Add.

The Add custom connector form. The Add button is highlighted in yellow. The OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret fields remain blank.

4
Click Connect

The connector has been created but is not yet authorized: the card says You are not connected to CasusLegal yet. Click Connect — a sign-in window will open on the service’s side.

5
Authorize

Both sign-in methods work in Claude. It is easier to click “Sign in via Telegram”: the account will be created automatically if you do not already have one. The second option is the connector access password from your personal account.

The CasusLegal sign-in page. The return address claude.ai/api/mcp/auth_callback is shown in the box at the top; this confirms that the service itself, rather than a third-party website, is requesting the password.

6
Set it to Always allow

After signing in, a card for the connected connector will open, showing a list of tools. By default, Claude asks for permission for every call, which noticeably slows down the process.

In the drop-down list to the right of the row Read-only tools select Always allow: the mode will apply to all the database’s tools at once. The value Custom means that different modes are set for different tools.

The connector’s tools are read-only: they search case law and retrieve the texts of judicial acts without making any changes.

The connected connector’s card, the Tool permissions section. To the right of “Read-only tools” is the mode switch; here it is set to Custom. The three icons next to each tool set its mode individually.

7
Test it in a chat

Open a new chat and ask a substantive question, for example: “Find Supreme Court of the Russian Federation case law on reducing a penalty under Article 333 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation.” The response should contain the details of the judicial acts with links to their full texts.

The list of connected tools is visible in the menu «+» in the input bar. You do not need to enable the connector separately in each chat.

Need another database? Repeat steps 2–6 using its URL from the table below. Each database is connected through a separate connector.

Typical errors

The connector connected successfully but is not used in the chat

The first thing to check is the connector name. If the name field contains Russian text (“Higher Courts”, “IP Court Connector”), Claude will connect the server and display the tools in Settings, but will say in the chat that it cannot see the connector’s tools.

Fix this by reconnecting: disconnect the connector and create it again using the Latin name from the table above.

Claude asks for permission for every request

The tools are still set to Ask. Open the connector card and select Always allow in the list to the right of the “Read-only tools” row; the mode will apply to all tools at once.

Authorization fails

Make sure that the section Advanced settings was left blank when the connector was created. The OAuth Client ID and Client Secret fields are sometimes filled in with a Telegram username, phone number, or password, which causes the connection to fail: they require technical client parameters, which CasusLegal does not need.

Sign-in succeeded, but the connector returns a refusal

First, check the connector URL: each database has its own, and a connector with the URL mcp.casus.legal checks the subscription for “Higher Courts”, even if you paid for the IP Court, CAC, or CJC. The refusal itself identifies the URL of the database you paid for; add the connector again using that URL (steps 2–6).

Open the “Connectors” tab in your account and check the subscription status for the required database. Access to each corpus is paid for separately; “Higher Courts” is included in every package.

Several databases are needed at once

Repeat steps 2–6 for each URL, changing the name and URL. The subscription remains a single subscription and works simultaneously in Claude and ChatGPT.
