After installation, set Always allow for each connector function. Write your question in plain language: Claude will understand when to connect CasusLegal. If it does not, say directly: “use CasusLegal and find …”. Specify the court when it matters (“only the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation,” “only the Supreme Court Plenum”), and the period if you need recent case law.
The connector must be explicitly connected to each new chat. Before working, make sure CasusLegal is activated in the current dialogue; otherwise, the model will answer from its own knowledge without consulting the database. Otherwise, the principle is the same: formulate your request in your own words.
The connector is enabled for a particular chat: click “+” in the input field, hover over “Connectors” and switch on the toggle next to the required database. While the toggle is off, the model answers from its own knowledge. You can enable several databases at once, in which case Grok will select the one best suited to the substance of the question.
The connector is connected once and works in all new dialogues. After editing the server list, run /reload-mcp and start a new chat; otherwise, the tools will not be picked up. The main quality lever here is the model: it can be changed with the command /model directly in the dialogue, while the connector remains connected. If the model answers from its own knowledge and does not consult the database, say directly “use CasusLegal and find …”, then try another model—tool calls fail more often with weaker models and models with small context windows. More details are available in the instructions for Hermes.
If the answer is not in the database, the model will say so directly and will not speculate about the substance of the act. To expand the results from a single landmark case, ask it to find similar cases.
The reason is almost always the connector’s Russian name. If, when connecting it, you name it in Cyrillic (“Higher Courts,” “IP Court Connector”), Claude will show the tools in Settings, but in the chat it will say that the connector tools are unavailable: because its name is in Cyrillic, it Claude does not collect the tools’ internal identifiers. The fix is to disable the connector and reconnect it with the name Latin characters: CasusLegal, CasusLegal SIP, CasusLegal KAS, CasusLegal KUD. Everything will then work immediately, in all clients—web, desktop and mobile.
