Connect to Grok

Six steps, about a minute of work. One subscription applies across all environments.

Add the connector in “Skills and connectors” as a custom MCP server: two form fields and sign-in via Telegram or password. The required interface element is marked in each screenshot.

A Grok subscription is not required. xAI makes connectors available to all Grok users, including the free plan: you do not need to pay for SuperGrok to connect CasusLegal. On the free plan, a fast model (the Fast line) responds, and the number of requests is limited by a time window; a subscription removes the limits and unlocks more advanced models. xAI does not officially publish which models are included in each plan and changes them; verified against the documentation on 1 August 2026. This refers to the Grok plan itself—access to the CasusLegal database is billed separately; see below.
Database access. Introductory free requests in the web chat and Telegram bot do not apply to the connector. Before connecting for the first time, enable in your account a three-day free trial or subscribe to the required database.
Which address to connect. All databases are available at one address: higher courts, the IP Court, the Judicial Chamber for Administrative Cases, the Judicial Chamber for Criminal Cases and ten commercial cassation districts. Exactly the databases you have paid for are opened; the appropriate neural network selects itself based on the subject of the question.
What is requiredAddress (URL)
All paid databases, including the districtshttps://mcp.casus.legal/one/mcp
Former district address /okrug/mcp continues to work; you do not need to reconnect it. If both addresses are connected, disable /okrug/mcp: otherwise the neural network will see the district tools twice.
⚠️ The connector name must use Latin characters only. Enter the name using Latin letters: CasusLegal, CasusLegal SIP, CasusLegal KAS, CasusLegal KUD. Internal tool identifiers cannot be generated from a Cyrillic name: the connector will connect and be visible in the settings, but in the chat the AI will say that it cannot see its tools. If you have already named it in Russian, disconnect the connector and connect it again using a Latin name.
1
Open “Skills and connectors”

Sign in to your account at grok.com. In the left panel, click “Skills and connectors” under “Automations.”

2
Click “New connector”

The catalog will open. Go to the tab “Connectors” and click the button “New connector” in the top-right corner.

The Gmail, Google Drive, GitHub and other service cards in the “Recommended” list are xAI’s ready-made integrations. CasusLegal is connected as a custom server.

3
Select “Custom settings”

The first item in the window that opens is “Custom settings” labelled “Add your own custom connector.” Click it: the ready-made integrations are listed below and are not needed here.

4
Fill in the two fields and click “Add connector”

The form consists of two fields.

Name — database name using Latin characters only: CasusLegal. The screenshot shows the IP Court database being connected, which is why it says CasusLegal SIP.

Server URL — https://mcp.casus.legal/one/mcp

This is a single address: it opens all the databases you have paid for, and automatically selects the appropriate AI model based on the subject of the question. You no longer need to choose the database URL or worry about entering the wrong one.

If you need a connector for a a single database, there are separate URLs as well: “Higher Courts” — https://mcp.casus.legal/mcp, the IP Court — https://sip.casus.legal/mcp, KAS — https://kas.casus.legal/mcp, KUD — https://kud.casus.legal/mcp. In that case, enter the URL of the database you actually paid for: connecting with someone else’s URL will work, but the connector will respond “subscription inactive or expired.” You do not need to keep the unified URL and separate URLs simultaneously: the AI model will see two identical sets of tools and search twice.

Click “Add connector”.

The “Custom connector” form: the name and URL of the MCP server. There are no other fields; Grok determines the OAuth parameters itself.

Authorize

A sign-in window will open on the service’s side. It is easier to click “Sign in via Telegram”: the account will be created automatically if you do not already have one. The second option is the connector access password from your personal account.

Enable the connector in the chat

Unlike Claude, a connector in Grok is enabled for a specific request. In a new chat, click «+» in the input bar, hover over “Connectors” and switch the toggle next to the required database to “on.”

The same menu also contains “Add connector” and “Manage connectors” — a quick way to connect the next database.

You can test that it works with a substantive query, for example: “Find Supreme Court of the Russian Federation case law on reducing a penalty under Article 333 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation.” The response should contain the particulars of the judicial acts, with links to the full texts.

The “+” menu in the input bar: “Connectors” and toggles for connected databases. The enabled CasusLegal SIP and CasusLegal are outlined in yellow.

Addresses: single and database-specific

Each database is connected through a separate connector: repeat steps 2–5 for the required address.

Typical errors

The connector connected, but the response contains no case law

Check the toggle: in Grok, the connector is enabled through the “+” menu → “Connectors” and applies to the current chat. If the toggle is off, the request will be sent without querying the database.

The second reason is a Cyrillic name. Internal tool identifiers cannot be generated from a Russian-language name. Delete the connector and create it again using the Latin-character name from the table above.

Authorization fails

The sign-in page opens in a separate browser window. If it closed prematurely or was blocked, repeat the connection process through “Manage connectors.”

The connector access password is set in your account and is different from signing in through Telegram.

Grok keeps “thinking” for a long time and says “Could not connect to this MCP server”

This is what an incomplete sign-in looks like: the authorization window opened, but Grok did not receive a response from it and displayed a generic error. The subscription and the server itself are not the cause; adding the connector again without making changes will produce the same result.

Add the connector again and, in the sign-in window, be sure to click “Sign in with Telegram” or enter the connector access password and click “Sign in.” Then wait for the browser to return you automatically to grok.com: there is no need to close the window manually.

A pop-up blocker often suppresses the sign-in window. In Safari: “Settings” → “Websites” → “Pop-up Windows” → select “Allow” for grok.com; in Chrome, permission is offered through the icon on the right side of the address bar. Do not switch networks between opening the window and clicking “Sign in”: this breaks the sign-in session that has already started.

Sign-in succeeded, but the connector returns a refusal

Open the “Connectors” tab in your account and check the subscription status for the required database. The introductory free requests in the web chat and Telegram bot do not apply to the connector.

Several databases are needed at once

Repeat steps 2–5 for each address, changing the name and URL. There is still only one subscription, and it works in all environments at once. Multiple connectors can be enabled in the chat simultaneously, as shown in the screenshot for step six.
